Colombian Gold Regular: Review of the Blimburn Seeds Sativa-Dominant Hybrid
If you are looking for a daytime-friendly cannabis strain that leans heavily into sativa genetics, Colombian Gold Regular is the classic answer. It is a regular (non-auto) hybrid that requires a 12/12 light cycle to trigger flowering, making it ideal for growers who prefer the traditional photoperiod method over the speed of autoflowers. The "Regular" designation means the seeds are unsexed, so you will need to identify and remove any male plants during the vegetative stage to ensure a successful harvest. Because it is a regular strain, it offers more control over the plant's size and structure through training techniques like topping or LST, which autoflowers often do not tolerate as well. You can check the current availability and price for Colombian Gold Regular directly on the Blimburn Seeds site.

Who it's for
This strain is a practical choice for growers who value the traditional cultivation experience. If you are comfortable with the basics of identifying male plants and managing a photoperiod schedule, Colombian Gold Regular offers a rewarding grow with a focus on sativa effects. It is particularly well-suited for indoor growers who have the space to manage a larger plant, as regular sativa-dominant hybrids often grow taller and can be shaped to optimize light penetration.
- Experienced growers who want to practice training techniques like topping, LST, or SCROG, which regular plants tolerate better than autoflowers.
- Photoperiod enthusiasts who prefer the control of a 12/12 light cycle over the fixed timeline of an autoflower.
- Sativa lovers who are looking for a daytime-friendly strain with a classic Colombian lineage.
Who should skip
If you are new to cannabis cultivation or prefer a "set it and forget it" approach, this SKU may not be the right fit. The "Regular" designation means you are buying unsexed seeds, which requires you to spend time and effort identifying and removing male plants. If you miss the male identification window, your female plants may not produce buds, resulting in a failed harvest. You can see current options.
- Beginners who are not yet confident in identifying male pre-flowers.
- Growers seeking feminized seeds who want to ensure every plant is a female producer.
- Those needing autoflowers who want to harvest multiple times a year without switching light schedules. See options
