Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Encasement Review

If you are tired of the plastic crinkle that wakes you up at 3 a.m., or if you are worried about a single spill ruining a high-end mattress, the Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Encasement is built to solve both problems. It wraps your entire mattress in two layers of 100% organic cotton stretchable jersey, with a non-toxic TPU barrier that keeps liquids out without sacrificing the soft feel of natural fibers. Unlike a simple fitted sheet or a thin protector that only covers the top, this is a full zippered encasement that seals the mattress on all sides. It is designed for people who want the peace of mind of waterproof protection but refuse to sleep on a plastic sheet. If you are ready to upgrade your bedding with a product that is both eco-conscious and durable, see current options to check the latest pricing for your mattress size.

Quick Answer

What actually changes the buy is fit, what you should skip, and which tradeoffs show up after week one — not a longer spec sheet. If you already know the job, see current options while you read the criteria.

What the Official Page Lists

The official Sleep & Beyond product page provides specific details on the construction and features of this encasement. Here are the key facts listed by the manufacturer:

The brand emphasizes that the product is "ethically and eco-consciously made from start to finish." The use of a YKK zipper is a notable detail, as this is a high-quality hardware brand known for durability, which is critical for a product that will be zipped and unzipped regularly. The two-layer jersey construction is designed to stretch, ensuring a snug fit that prevents shifting during the night. You can see current options.

What reviewers say

Reviews from YouTube say this about the Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Encasement.

One viewer on YouTube specifically highlighted the design choice of using an encasement rather than a top-only protector, stating, "I love that it's an encasement mattress protector, which means that your whole mattress is protected." This is a key functional benefit for many buyers; by wrapping the entire mattress, you eliminate the risk of liquid seeping down the sides and soaking into the box spring or mattress base, which is a common failure point with standard fitted sheets. Another YouTube review from Emily at Tucked in Organics covers the Sleep & Beyond line, including the myProtector (which is the internal name for this encasement line) and other organic bedding items. While the video covers multiple products, the focus on organic materials and the brand's commitment to natural fibers aligns with the primary selling point of this specific SKU. Who it's for

This encasement is ideal for specific types of sleepers and households. Check the official listing before you buy.

• Parents of toddlers or new incontinence concerns: If you are dealing with bedwetting, this full-wrap protection is significantly more effective than a top-only pad because it prevents liquid from migrating to the edges of the mattress.
• Allergy sufferers: The barrier against dust mites and bed bugs is a major health benefit. If you have allergies or asthma, keeping these allergens sealed out of the mattress core is a practical health measure.
• Pet owners: The official site highlights pet hair as a key theme. If you have a dog or cat that sleeps on the bed, this encasement helps trap hair and dander, making it easier to clean and keeping the mattress fresher.
• Eco-conscious buyers: If you prioritize certified organic materials and non-toxic waterproofing (TPU vs. PVC), this product aligns with those values. The 10-year warranty also suggests a long-term investment rather than a disposable item. See options

Who should skip

This product is not the right fit for everyone. Check the official listing before you buy.

• Those who want a pillow-top feel: This is a protective encasement, not a topper. It will not add significant thickness or plushness to your mattress. If you need a softer sleeping surface, you will need to pair this with a separate topper.
• Budget-focused buyers: With prices starting at $109 and going up to $299, this is a premium product. If you are looking for a basic waterproof protector under $50, this will be a significant step up in price.
• Those who prefer a simple fitted sheet: If you do not need waterproof protection or allergen barriers, a high-quality organic cotton fitted sheet is a cheaper and simpler solution. This encasement is specifically for protection. See options

How to Choose in Five Minutes

If the criteria already match how you live in the space, see current options before you keep comparing.

1. Check your mattress depth: This is the most critical step. Measure the depth of your mattress from the top surface to the bottom. The encasement needs to fit over the entire depth. If your mattress is deeper than the size you are considering, it will not fit properly. See options
2. Verify the size: Sleep & Beyond offers various sizes. Confirm that your mattress dimensions (width and length) match the available options. Twin, Full, Queen, and King sizes are standard, but always double-check the specific measurements listed on the product page.
3. Consider the zipper access: The zipper is on both short sides and one long side. This makes installation easier, especially if you have a bulky mattress. Ensure you have enough space to maneuver the zipper around the mattress. See options
4. Check the warranty terms: The 10-year warranty is a strong selling point. While the official site mentions this, it is always a good idea to confirm the specific terms and conditions of the warranty on the brand's site before purchasing, as policies can change. See options
5. Review the return policy: If you are unsure about the fit or feel, check the return policy. Since this is a hygiene product, some retailers have strict return rules for bedding. Confirming this before you buy can save you hassle later. See options

FAQ

Is this a mattress protector or a mattress topper? This is a mattress protector, specifically a full-encasement type. It is designed to protect the mattress from leaks, stains, and allergens. It does not add significant thickness or plushness like a topper would. If you want a softer feel, you should use a topper in addition to this encasement. Confirm details on the current product page.

How does the waterproofing work without feeling plastic? The encasement uses a non-toxic TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) layer sandwiched between two layers of 100% organic cotton stretchable jersey. The cotton layers provide the soft, breathable feel, while the TPU layer provides the waterproof barrier. This construction is designed to be silent and crinkle-free, avoiding the common "plastic sheet" noise. Check the official listing before you buy.

Can I wash this encasement? Yes, the encasement is machine washable. The official page indicates it is designed for easy care. Always follow the specific care instructions provided by Sleep & Beyond to maintain the integrity of the waterproof layer and the organic cotton.

Does it fit deep pocket mattresses? Yes, but you must verify the depth. The encasement is designed to fit over the entire mattress, including the sides. You need to measure your mattress depth and ensure the size you select accommodates that depth. If your mattress is very deep (e.g., 16 inches or more), you may need to check if a specific "deep" or "extra deep" size is available. Check the official listing before you buy.

What is the warranty? Sleep & Beyond offers a 10-year warranty/guarantee on this product. This is a significant advantage over many competitors who offer 1-3 year warranties. It reflects confidence in the durability of the materials and construction.

Bottom Line

The Sleep & Beyond Organic Cotton Waterproof Mattress Encasement is a premium choice for those who want the best of both worlds: robust waterproof and allergen protection with the comfort and breathability of 100% organic cotton. It is not the cheapest option on the market, but the 10-year warranty, high-quality YKK zipper, and eco-conscious materials justify the higher price point for many buyers. If you are looking for a product that will protect your mattress for years to come without compromising your sleep quality, this encasement is a strong contender.

If you are ready to make the switch to a more protective and organic bedding setup, see current options to find the right size for your mattress.
